Frequently Asked Questions
We follow the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum for all academic subjects. Students also receive daily Islamic Studies.
Yes. Khairul Ummah Academy is a registered and inspected private high school authorized to grant Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credits.
Hifz classes run in the summer for 5 weeks. Exact dates are sent to parents by email in advance, classes for the final three years of Alimah class run till the end of July. Exams for years 1, 2 & 3, take place in the first week of July. Holidays should be planned accordingly.
Yes. Students may apply to colleges and universities while in Grade 12. Our staff provides support throughout the process.
Yes. Report cards are issued three times a year
Typically, 4 years. Some students may extend to 5 years or take a gap year in order to focus the ʿĀlimiyyah program
JK & SK classes run from 8:30am to 12:00pm.
Classes for Grades 1–3 boys and girls, Grades 4–8 boys, and full-time Hifz run from 8:30am to 2:30pm.
Classes for Grades 6–12 girls run from 8:30am to 3:45pm.
We offer:
● Daily Islamic Studies (JK to Grade 8)
● Full-Time and Part-Time Ḥifz (Grade 4+ boys)
●ʿĀlimiyyah Program (Grade 6+ girls)
Yes, for all girls in Grade 6 and up. It can be taken with or without the academic program
Please email us your request. Your child will be required to complete a fluency and tajweed assessment. Spots are limited.
We may take older students on a case by case basis
Admissions are first-come, first-served. A new waiting list is created each September. Students who don’t get admission, must come in-person by September 30th of the new year in order to maintain a spot on the waiting list for the upcoming year. If a student’s name is not renewed by September 30th of the new year, their name will be taken off the waiting list.
You will need:
● Completed registration form
● Direct deposit form
● Proof of identity (birth certificate, passport, PR card)
● Latest report card (if applicable)
● Immunization records
● $250 registration fee

Yes, by appointment only. Due to modesty/pardah, male visitors may be restricted from certain areas

Yes. Families may complete a Financial Assistance Form. No student is denied due to financial hardship.
All tuition payments are made through direct deposit. A completed form is required at

Yes. Families with more than two children receive a $25 discount for each additional child
Yes. Tax receipts are issued annually:
● 100% for Full-Time Hifz or Alimiyyah students
● 50% for students enrolled in academics + Alimiyyah
● 35% for academic + Islamic Studies or Part-Time Hifz
Yes. We offer transportation from Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park. See the Admissions page for fee details
Yes. We organize three educational and recreational trips annually. Participation is optional and affordable.
● Girls: Plain black abaya and white scarf
● Boys: White thawb and white topi/kufi No makeup, jewelry, nail polish, or fragrances
No. Students must bring a healthy, nut-free lunch and snack each day. Occasionally the school will host a pizza lunch, bake sale, or BBQ at a nominal cost.
Class sizes range from 15 to 40. Larger classes have two teachers.
Yes. Please request an over the phone or in-person appointment via email. We are not able to facilitate on the spot meetings in-person or over the phone.
No. Students must stay on school grounds unless accompanied by a parent. After school, students should leave with an approved guardian or transportation provider. Written consent is needed for students leaving the school alone. Parents must fill out the sign-in/sign out sheet if their children are late or are leaving early for any reason.
Classes are mixed until Grade 3. From Grade 4 onwards, boys and girls have separate classes.
